Peanut Butter Fat Bombs
So we have been caught eating these quite a bit at the gym, and more and more of you have been hounding us for the recipe. So without further delay.. here you go! Hope you love them as much as we do.
(You can make this more of a Paleo variation or a Keto variation- refer to the options in the ingredients below).
Base layer:
1 cup roasted mixed nuts
1/2 cup shredded coconut
1/3 almond meal
3 tablespoons coconut oil (not melted)
2 tbsp raw cacao powder
1 tbsp honey ( or 8-10 drops of stevia)
a pinch of salt
- Place all ingredients into a food processor and blitz until combined and starting to stick together. Divide equally into 12 silicone muffin trays and press down with fingers or use a metal 1/3 cup measure to press down firmly. Place into the freezer.
Peanut Butter layer:
1/2 cup crunchy natural peanut butter (I LOVE Pics)
1/4 cup coconut oil (not melted)
1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
- Don't worry about cleaning the food processor after making the base. Just throw all of the ingredients above into it and blitz until coconut oil is blended into the peanut butter. I hold it down for a good 60 seconds. Remove trays from freezer and divide the peanut butter equally among the 12 trays. I usually do this with a tablespoon to control the amounts. Place back into the freezer.
Chocolate top layer:
1/2 cup coconut oil (not melted)
3 tbsp cacao powder
1 tbsp honey or 5-6 drops of liquid stevia (or don't use a sweetener at all)
Place coconut into a small microwave-proof bowl and microwave until just melted. If too hot, give it some time to slightly cool.
Stir in the cacao powder and optional sweetener of choice.
Use a spoon to equally pour on top of each cup. This will start to harden fairly quickly as the cups are already quite cold. Place back into the freezer on a flat surface and allow to completely harden (90-120min) before popping them out and storing them for the week!
THE CRAVING KILLER
Let's go a little bit girly here. So men you can just follow the recipe and enjoy the treats!
As women, we have monthly phases that we go through. And the Luteal phase (pre-period) can sometimes be mean; pains, bloating and of course... The cravings. I have found these little fat bombs to be AH-MAZING for this time of "month". They help to keep you fuller for longer ( thank you fats), whilst also giving you a solid "sweet" treat taste to get you through. It is also proven that within that 10-14 days prior to your period being due, women generally do need ~300 calories more a day, which is also what can bring on those super intense cravings.. because your body is searching for something to fill you up. These are super dense (again, thank you fats) and are a great way to help boost those extra calories that your body is seeking. (Just don't go crazy and eat them all).
I could totally geek out here and start discussing the benefits that eating healthy fats has on your hormone production. But let's just stop there and quickly mention that yes, due to the fats within these treats, it can also help produce and regulate hormone production.
Hope you love them as much as we do and start to reap some of the benefits mentioned above!
